Clean Team
The CID Clean Team
makes it happen
For more than 20 years, the Downtown CID has funded the Clean Team, a group hired to supplement City trash removal and additional street-level cleaning services within the District’s boundaries.
Our Clean Team works in highly visible public spaces to help ensure that Downtown is a clean, welcoming space.
Proudly sporting their purple uniform, the Clean Team works within the CID boundaries to clear away debris from the sidewalks, remove first-floor graffiti, notify the Citizens’ Service Bureau of issues, top-off trash cans between City pick-ups, and more.
“Purple People,” as they are fondly referred to, are the dedicated members of the CID’s Clean Team. Many of the team members have been working with the CID for several consecutive years, creating relationships with Downtown businesses and pedestrians while building upon their knowledge of the CID’s footprint. The Clean Team’s duties include maintaining street-level cleanliness, removing first-floor graffiti and stickers, reporting suspicious activity and illegal bulk trash dumping, topping off trash cans, and tending to special projects.
For many of the team members, this job is about more than just earning a living – it’s about making a positive impact in the Downtown community. Our Clean Team takes pride in their work, understanding that they play a major role in maintaining a welcoming Downtown.
