A Safer Downtown District
A safer downtown is essential for building the flourishing neighborhood we all want. The CID’s supplemental safety officers, safety workshops, and the close, real-time coordination with the city, SLMPD, and other partners are important components of a united effort. Anticipating future needs and timely adjustments based on experience are both central to our approach.
We can’t do it alone, but by collaborating with our partners, we ensure harmonious efforts—each adding our voice to the chorus of Downtown. Working together, we all make a difference.
We recommend the Noonlight (formerly SafeTrek) app, which has a free version and is available for both iOS and Android. You can use it whenever you may be walking alone at night or feel uneasy.
Simply open the app and hold a button on the screen. Once you’re comfortable, remove your finger and enter a four-digit PIN.
If you remove your finger without entering the PIN, local law-enforcement is alerted. Noonlight then provides police with your location.Walk with a buddy or in a group.
